Chapter 7 – Hardware Component Replacement

Replacing a Power Supply

Note: Dual power supplies are hot-swappable. If the platform is operating under power from a
second power supply, there is no need to turn off the platform.
This procedure is not applicable for an OnDemand Switch VL platform.
Refer to the procedure following for
To replace a power supply
1. Turn off the platform.
2. Disconnect the power cable from the faulty power supply.
3. Remove the screw that secures the faulty power supply to the chassis.
4. Remove the faulty power supply from the platform.
5. Insert the new power supply into the platform.
6. Insert and tighten the screw that secures the new power supply to the chassis.
7. Connect the power cable to the new power supply.

Replacing a Power Supply on an OnDemand Switch VL Platform

To replace a power supply on OnDemand Switch VL platforms
1. Turn off the platform.
2. Disconnect the power cable from the faulty power supply.
3. Remove the faulty power supply from the platform.
4. Fully insert the new power supply into the platform until it clicks.
5. Connect the power cable to the new power supply.
