8 STATISTICS

These modes operate within batches and can be selected from the setup menu - see "Data
collection/Statistical functions" on page 24. There are 3 modes available:
8.1 STATISTICS MODE
The stats keys [
], [σ], [<] and [>] will display (for 1 second or for as long as the key is pressed) mean,
standard deviation, lowest and highest readings whether in immediate or batch (statistics) mode.
In averaging or counted average mode, the keys have different functions at different times within the
function. These two modes are only available within a batch. Default settings may be setup in immediate
mode. These may be modified for a specific batch by adjusting the settings before taking any readings after
selecting the batch.
8.2 AVERAGE MODE
Average mode allows the user to take a number of readings to obtain an average value (viewed using the
[
] key), and store it as a reading in the batch. Individual readings are displayed as taken. The average
value may be stored by a single press of the [ENTER] key. At this point, the display will show the average
value being stored (with the [
] symbol) and how many averages have been stored. Whilst taking an
individual reading, the readings display will show how many readings have been taken so far and the [
]
symbol flashes to show that the instrument is in averaging mode.
The statistics keys will show the statistics for the individual reading until the [ENTER] key is pressed. When
pressed, they will show the batch statistics.
