2.1 Safety provisions

For your own safety, the safety of your patients, and to comply with the requirements of
EU Directive 93/42/EEC, please observe the following points:
General
Caution!
• Read these operating instructions carefully. They are part of to the pres-
sure reducer and must be available at all times.
• Before working with the pressure reducer, you should understand how
it works. In the event of queries, contact your authorized dealer or the
manufacturer.
• Use the pressure reducer for the designated purpose only (see "1.1
Purpose" on page 7).
• Have all inspection and servicing work carried out by the manufacturer
(Weinmann) or by a trained authorized dealer.
• If third-party items are used, functional failures may occur and fitness for
use may be restricted. Biocompatibility requirements may also not be
met. Please note that in such cases, any claim under warranty and liability
will be voided if neither the accessories nor genuine replacement parts
recommended in the instructions for use are used.
• A spare unit must always be kept handy in case of failure.
• Please observe the section "5. Hygienic preparation" on page 19 in order
to avoid infection or bacterial contamination.
• Inadequate supply of oxygen possible.
Never use pressure reducers with a flow outlet to operate medical devic-
es. The supply pressure of the flow outlets is inadequate for this and
could result in malfunctions or failures of the medical devices and thus in
a risk to the patient.
• Inadequate supply of oxygen possible.
With oxygen requirements in excess of 90 l/min, the pressure outlet and
the flow outlet may not be in operation simultaneously.
