– Cable Name
– Connector: SM SC, SM LC, SM ST, MM SC, SM LC, SM ST
– Direction: unidirectional, or bidirectional
– Reference Method: 1 jumper, 2 jumper, or 3 jumper
– Limit: TIA 568.3, ISO 11801, ISO 14763-3
– Number of Connections: Specify the number of connections
in the fiber system under test. Don't count the reference
connections. They are already considered in the loss test cal-
culation.
– Loss per Connection (dB): 0.1 to 0.75
– Number of Splices
– Loss per Splice (dB): 0.1 to 0.3
– Length Limit (m)
– Cable Loss
To delete the test setup (reference method presettings):
√ The instrument is in Tier 1 Test mode.
1. Press the [A] key.
2. Tap the [Test Setup]
3. Tap the desired test setup.
4. Press the [A] key.
5. Tap the [Delete] button.
6. Tap the [OK] button.
Performing a Tier 1 loss test
To perfom a Tier 1 loss test generally:
√ The Device Type of the instruments are set.
√ The cable properties are stored.
√ The Test Setup is set and selected (see "Referencing methods"
on page 37).
√ The local and remote instrument are in Tier 1 Test mode.
1. Tap the [Set Reference]
2. Connect the reference cords according to the touchscreen
prompt.
3. Connect your fiber under test.
4. Tap the [Auto Test]
5. If necessary, change the cords and tap the

Pass/Fail, Margin, and Length are displayed.
