Outer Skid Shoe Replacement

OUTER RIGHT-HAND SKID SHOE
Inspect outer skid shoes for wear and replace as needed.
1.
Disengage power take-off, park on level ground, and
place gear selector in park or in neutral with park
brake set.
2. Operate 3-point lift lever to raise Snow Blower off the
ground high enough to adjust outer skid shoes (#1).
3. Shut tractor engine off and remove switch key. Make
sure power take-off has stopped before dismounting
tractor.
4. To keep Snow Blower from dropping while adjusting
outer skid shoes (#1), place non-concrete support
blocks under Snow Blower support rests (#4) or
lower wear bar (#1) shown in Figure 6-9 on page 34.
5. Remove carriage bolts (#2A & #2B) and right-hand
skid shoe (#1). Discard skid shoe and save hardware
for reattachment of new skid shoe.
6. Attach right-hand skid shoe (#1) to upper hole "A" with
3/8"-16 x 1" GR5 carriage bolt (#2A) and hex flange
locknut (#3).
7.
Attach right-hand skid shoe (#1) to hole "B" or "C"
with 3/8"-16 x 1" GR5 carriage bolt (#2B) and hex
flange locknut (#3).
8. Tighten locknuts (#3) to the correct torque.
9. Repeat steps 4 to 8 above for the left-hand skid shoe.

Outer Wear Bars (Optional)

NOTE: When outer wear bars (#2) are worn
excessively, they can be rotated upside down 180
and reused to extend their wear life.
Inspect outer wear bars and carriage bolts for wear and
replace as needed.
1.
Disengage power take-off, park on level ground, and
place gear selector in park or in neutral with park
brake set.
2. Operate 3-point lift lever to raise Snow Blower off the
ground high enough to adjust outer skid shoes (#1).
3. Shut tractor engine off and remove switch key. Make
sure power take-off has stopped before dismounting
tractor.
4. To keep Snow Blower from dropping while adjusting
outer wear bars (#2), place non-concrete support
blocks under Snow Blower support rests (#1) or
lower wear bar (#1) shown in Figure 6-9 on page 34.
5. Remove carriage bolts (#3) and outer wear bars (#2).
6. Inspect hardware for wear. Save if hardware is not
worn. Discard hardware and purchase new when
worn excessively.
7.
Inspect outer wear bars. Keep outer wear bars if they
can be rotated 180
bars if worn excessively on both edges.
8. Attach existing/new outer wear bars with existing/
new carriage bolts (#3) and hex flange locknuts (#4).
9. Tighten locknuts (#4) to the correct torque.
