Also, make sure that the parabolic mirror is not discolored. Discoloration
is caused by failure of the silicone seal between the sapphire window and
the mirror. If there is discoloration of the mirror, or if there are scratches or
cracks on the sapphire window, replace the cell assembly.
7. Clean the sapphire window in the IR bench using the same procedure as
was used to clean the window in the cell assembly. Refer to
page
118.
8. Remove the O-ring located between the cell and the bench assembly so
that it can be cleaned.
9. Inspect the O-ring to verify that it is free of damage and deterioration.
The smallest debris particle on the O-ring seat can prevent a good seal
between the bench and the cell after assembly.
10. Inspect the inlet and outlet ports for obstructions and contamination.
If present, remove them with cotton swabs and isopropyl alcohol.
11. Reinstall the tubing and install a new tie wrap after completing the
cleaning procedure.
