5. Release headgear from headgear clips
and forehead support.
6. Subject mask parts and headgear to a

hygiene treatment.

7. Following the hygiene treatment, reas-
semble the mask in reverse sequence.
Tip
• The Velcro tabs on forehead strap 15
are pale blue, the Velcro tabs on cheek
strap 16 are dark blue (Fig. E).
• Always thread the forehead strap for
the headgear through slot a (Fig. Ea) of
the forehead support and the tube
anchoring clip through slot b (Fig. Eb)
of the forehead support.
5 Hygiene treatment

5.1 Procedure

CAUTION
Risk of injury if cleaning is inadequate!
Residues may block mask and mask tube.
They may impair the integrated exhalation
system and jeopardize the success of
therapy.
– For patients with a compromised im-
mune system or particular background of
illness, disinfect or sterilize mask parts
daily following consultation with the
physician.

– Carefully clean the contact surfaces
between the elbow and the rotating
sleeve.
5.1.1 Daily
1. Dismantle mask as described.
2. Wash mask in hot water using a mild
detergent (e.g. washing-up liquid).
3. Carefully rinse off all parts with clean
water.
The parts must be free of residues.
4. Allow parts to air-dry.
5.1.2 Weekly
1. Dismantle mask as described.
2. Subject mask and headgear to a
hygiene treatment (see table).
Tip
• Wear suitable gloves (e.g. disposable
gloves) during the hygiene treatment.
• Do not dry parts in direct sunlight.
• Wash the headgear before using for the
first time, as the dye may run.
• Do not iron the headgear, otherwise the
Velcro tabs will stop gripping.
• Do not dry the headgear in a dryer.
