Setting the Scanning Parameters and Scanning

Setting the scan parameters (selection of a SPM-method, choosing scan region and scan
speed) and scanning are similar to operation at normal conditions. A detailed description is
given in the book ("Performing measurements"), Part 3, Chapter 3, Section « SemiContact
Mode ».
Given below is the sequence of the basic procedures performed when starting the scan
process.
1. Switch to the Scan tab.
2. Selection of SPM mode.
3. Selection of scan region and the scanning speed.
4. Starting scanning (Run button).

Finishing the Measurements

To finish the measurements complete the following operations:
1. In the «Т=» input box enter a temperature value close to the room temperature.
2. Switch on sample heating/cooling using the
3. When the sample temperature has approached the room temperature, switch off
heating/cooling using the button
4. If required withdraw the sample from the probe (the
tab). This procedure is not mandatory if you do not intend to open the temperature
chamber.
5. Switch off the SPM controller and the thermocontroller using toggle-switches on their
front panels.
6. Switch off the liquid temperature control unit.
7. Close the main program window.
