If you are installing PowerPath offline, then in the following procedure:
pkgadd -R c
Use the
Specify any base directory and/or logging directory relative to the client
root, not the root of the server.
1. Log in to the server as superuser (root).
2. If the server is running a previous version of PowerPath, remove
it:
a. Start the uninstall program:
/usr/sbin/pkgrm EMCpower
b. At the prompt to remove the PowerPath package, enter y.
c. At the prompt about scripts that execute with super-user
permission during the installation, enter y to continue with
deinstallation.
3. Insert the PowerPath CD into the CD drive.
4. If the CD does not mount automatically, mount it manually with
the mount command.
For example, to mount the CD on /cdrom/cdrom0, enter:
mount -F hsfs -r /dev/dsk/cxtydzs0 /cdrom/cdrom0
where x, y, and z are values specific to the host's CD drive.
Example:
mount -F hsfs -r /dev/dsk/c0t2d0s0 /cdrom/cdrom0
5. If you do not have a graphics terminal, run the script filename
command to record pkgadd output in the specified file. (After
pkgadd completes, use CRTL-D to stop recording the output.)
6. Change to the
/ mount_point /UNIX/SOLARIS
cd /cdrom/cdrom0/UNIX/SOLARIS
7. Start the installation program:
/usr/sbin/pkgadd -d
8. At the prompt to select the packages to process, enter 1 to select
EMC PowerPath.
