b. Set the RAD_LOG_FACILITY environment variable to
LOG_LOCALx, where x is the number you used in the local
setting of the /etc/syslog.conf file.
For example, for csh, enter:
setenv RAD_LOG_FACILITY LOG_LOCAL0
For sh, enter:
RAD_LOG_FACILITY=LOG_LOCAL0; export
RAD_LOG_FACILITY
Share the root file system of the target system in a way that allows
root access over NFS to the installing system, if you want to
install PowerPath offline over NFS. You can use a command such
as the following on target_sys to share the root file system on
target_sys so that installer_sys has root access:
share -F nfs -d 'root on target_sys' -o ro,rw=installer_sys,root=installer_sys /
If the base directory of the package (the default is /opt) is not part
of the root file system, it also needs to be shared with root access.
Stop all applications that use PowerPath if you are upgrading
from PowerPath 4.0.2 or later. For example, unmount all file
systems mounted on PowerPath pseudo devices. If you do not
stop these applications, uninstalling PowerPath 4.0.2 or later in
preparation for the upgrade will abort with a message indicating
that PowerPath pseudo devices are still in use. If this happens,
you must either stop applications using PowerPath and try
pkgrm again, or reboot the server and postpone the upgrade.
Remove any earlier version of PowerPath that is installed on the
server:
• Save your PowerPath configuration using the powermt save
command.
• Uninstall any earlier version of PowerPath because the
PowerPath installation program exits if it detects an existing
version of PowerPath. Refer to the documentation for the
earlier version for instructions on uninstalling this version.
You need not reboot the host after you remove the earlier
version of PowerPath.
Prepare for the cluster, if you are installing PowerPath for a
cluster environment, as described in PowerPath for Solaris
Installation and Administration Guide in the "Related documents"
section on the AX100 support website.
