host software requirements. These slots are not part of any partition but are
accessible by all partitions. If all drawers are used in the partitions, the slot count
of the last partition is reduced by number of slots that have been reserved.

Drive Assignments

longer accessible by the library while it is partitioned.
Each partition must have at least one of the library drives assigned to it. As such,
in a library with fewer than four drives, the maximum number of partitions is
equal to the total number of drives in a library.
Drive Usage in Partitions
Drives should be installed starting in drive bay 1 and continuing in order. The last
drive bay used determines the number of drives in the library. For example, if bay
6 is the highest numbered bay used, the library assumes there are six (6) drives. If
a drive is removed for any reason, during partition configuration, that drive will
remain available for use with a partition. That way, when the drive is reinstalled,
it can be used without repartitioning the library.
For a NEO 8200 dual-library system, the system adds the number of drives
together using the last occupied bay calculation. So if the Master library has six
drives (bays 1–6) and the Slave has four (bays 1–4), the partitioning configuration
will show 10 drives available. Again, if a drive is removed, the drive will still be
included in the partition configuration options.

Standalone vs. Multi-Module

When two NEO 8000e libraries are hooked up together via a PassThru HRA to
create a multi-module system, if one library is a NEO 8000e, the other must also
be an E-Series library. Older libraries can be upgraded using the NEO 8000 to
8000e Upgrade Kit available separately.
A multi-module system uses the drives and drawers of both systems for
partitioning. Any drives and drawers of either library not assigned to a partition
are no longer accessible by the multi-module system while it is partitioned.
The other slot parameters for partitioned libraries hold true here as well except for
Mail Slots. Mail Slots are assigned to partitions directly; there are no virtual Mail
Slots. None, one, or both Mail Slots can be assigned to a partition. If just one is
assigned, the other is available for a different partition. If not assigned, it is no
longer available to the system.
