5 Mounting and start-up
DANGER
!
Risk of fatal injury due to the ignition of an
explosive atmosphere.
Incorrect installation, operation or mainte-
nance of the i/p converter in potentially ex-
plosive atmospheres may lead to ignition of
the atmosphere and cause death.
Î The following regulations apply to instal-
lation in hazardous areas: EN 60079-14
(VDE 0165, Part 1).
Î Installation, operation or maintenance of
the i/p converter must only performed by
personnel who has undergone special
training or instructions or who is
authorized to work on explosion-
protected devices in hazardous areas.

5.1 Mounting orientation

Î Install the converter horizontally with the
pressure gauge (or screw plug) facing
upward.
Note
If a different mounting position is used, the
zero point must be corrected afterwards (see
section 6.1).
Î With degree of protection IP 54, make
sure the vent plug is installed facing
downward to the floor.

5.2 Installing i/p converters

The i/p converter can be mounted to a wall,
pipe or directly to a control valve (see
Fig. 11). Certain mounting accessories are
required depending on the type of mounting
(see section 3.3).

5.3 Electrical connection

WARNING
!
Incorrect connection at the terminals will
render the explosion protection unsafe.
Î Observe the specifications in the explo-
sion-protection certification.
Î Do not undo the enameled screws in or
on the enclosure.
NOTICE
!
Compliance with the specified degree of
protection not achieved due to insufficient
sealing of the terminal compartment.
Leakage to the terminal space may impair
the degree of protection.
Î Make sure that the cable entries are
sealed and the cover is locked in position
during operation.
