6.3.6 FE260 GSM/GPRS version with ComFTP modem application

ComFTP is a program in the FE260 modem. It reads cyclically from the EK280 and transmits the data to an
enabled server.
Attention:
The ComFTP application will incur costs due to continuous data volume transmission via a mobile
network. Estimate adequate reserve for this. Talk to your provider to obtain an economical tariff.
Switching off roaming can also help to reduce costs. Optimization of these factors is your
responsibility.
Wireless networks can be disrupted, therefore one hundred percent data transfer cannot be
guaranteed in any case.
This application works only with an FE260 with "ComFTP" option. This option must be requested
i
when ordering the FE260.
FE260 compatibility is indicated by the field marked "ComFTP" on the FE260 modem's label.
i
As this application is very complex, it is essential that you please carry out the activities in the
exact order described to obtain the desired result.
6.3.6.1 Prerequisites for operation with ComFTP
The following conditions must be fulfilled to enable operation of the ComFTP application:
The ComFTP server must be configured. It is vital to ensure that adequate free space is available. The
directories used for standard response and archive transfer must exist.
ComFTP server maintenance must be assured - the data must be processed in a timely manner. If this
is overlooked, data loss may occur. Talk to your IT department or relevant service provider about
this.
