4.4 Starting the engine from LOP (without BlueLine automation
system)
Preconditions
☑ Gearbox must be in neutral.
☑ External start interlock must not be activated.
☑ Emergency air-shutoff flaps (if fitted) are open.
DANGER
Rotating and moving engine parts.
Risk of crushing, danger of parts of the body being caught or pulled in!
• Before cranking the engine with starter system, make sure that there are no persons in the engine's
danger zone.
WARNING
High level of engine noise when the engine is running.
Risk of damage to hearing!
• Wear ear protectors.
Engine - Cranking (out-of-service period > 1 month)

Measure
Use starting equipment to crank (→ Page 147).
Measure
Start in unloaded condition.
Switch on.
LOP:
• LOCAL MODE illuminated push button lights up brightly (local control
mode active) (→ Page 110)
• Illuminated pushbutton GEARBOX NEUTRAL lights up brightly (gearbox is
disengaged) (→ Page 110).
Press READY FOR OPERATION illuminated pushbutton briefly (→ Page 110).
• READY FOR OPERATION illuminated pushbutton lights up brightly.
Press START illuminated pushbutton briefly (→ Page 110).
• START illuminated pushbutton of respective engine lights up brightly;
• Automatic starting sequence is performed;
• Engine speed display instrument indicates increasing speed;
• At the end of the starting sequence, the engine runs at idling speed and
the START illuminated pushbutton changes to basic brightness.
