Introduction

This preface describes who should read the Cisco SCE8000 GBE Installation and Configuration Guide,
how it is organized, and its document conventions.
This guide is for the networking or computer technician responsible for installing and configuring the
SCE8000 GBE platform on-site. To use this publication, you should be familiar with
telecommunications equipment and installation procedures, as well as electronic circuitry and wiring
practices. You should also have experience as an electronic or electromechanical technician.
This installation guide explains the initial hardware installation and basic configuration procedures for
the SCE8000 GBE GBE. It contains procedures for unpacking and installing the device and performing
basic configuration via the setup wizard. After completing the installation and basic configuration
procedures covered in this guide, you will then use the appropriate companion publications to more
completely configure your system.
This guide contains instructions on how to install and run the SCE8000 GBE platform. This guide
