Installation and service must be performed by Extron authorized personnel or
a qualified electrician only.
Unpack and locate the MLM-WB's parts and hardware. See "Identifying
Parts and Hardware" on page 2-4.
Select the installation site. On non-masonry walls the MLM-WB must be
attached to at least one stud. The installation is sturdiest if the wall box is
attached to two wall studs or to a concrete/masonry wall.
Mount the outer enclosure onto the wall, route power cables into the junction
box inside the MLM-WB, and route A/V and control cables through the
MLM-WB. See "Mounting the MLM-WB" on page 2-5 for details.
Install the solid side plate in the unused side of the MLM-WB.
Install a VCR in the other side of the MLM-WB. See "Installing a VCR" (page
2-10) in this chapter.
Install the MLM-WB's door. See "Installing the Door" in this chapter.
Install Extron control modules (IRCMs, ACMs, RCMs), Extron Architectural
Adapter Plates (AAPs), or other Extron AAP devices in the AAP openings.
See page 2-15, "Installing AAP Devices and a MediaLink Controller".
Set any switches or jumpers on the control modules or AAP devices.
Connect cables to the rear panel connectors of the control modules, AAPs,
and/or other Extron AAP devices.
Attach cables to a MediaLink™ Controller (MLC) as described in the
MediaLink Controllers User's Manual.
Remove the MLC's faceplate, and install labels. See page 2-16 in this chapter.
Attach the MLC to the MLM-WB's door. See pages 2-16 and 2-16 in this
chapter.
Attach cables between the MLC and any control modules installed in the AAP
openings.
Supply power to and turn on the input and output devices, a host computer,
and the MLC.
Set up the MLC, and control modules (if applicable), by using the Windows
based MediaLink control software or Simple Instruction Set ™ commands.
Refer to chapter four of the MediaLink Controllers User's Manual.
Test the system. Make adjustments to settings and cabling as needed.
To avoid receiving an electrical shock or damaging the equipment,
disconnect power from the computer, input and output devices, and the
MLC before changing the wiring.
Disconnect power from the MLC, the input and output devices, and the host
computer. The computer may be disconnected from the MLC.
Close and secure the MLM-WB's door. See pages 2-16 to 2-17 in "Completing
and Testing the Installation" in this chapter.
Install the shelf on the door. See "Attaching the Shelf" on page 2-19 for
instructions.
Restore electrical power to the MLC and connected devices.
