Mounting the C-TOP+
When mounting, make sure the C-TOP+ is correctly aligned. As a rule, the pneu-
matic connections of the actuator and the C-TOP+ must be situated on the same
side and the LED must be easily visible.

1. Loosen the three mounting screws on the base plate (
3 rotations, so that the C-TOP+ can be attached to the mounted adapter plate.
2. Carefully place the C-TOP+, with the required alignment, on the mounted adap-
ter plate.
3. Press the C-TOP+ down and turn it slightly anti-clockwise, until the teeth of the
base plate properly engage with the ring gear of the adapter plate.
4. Secure the C-TOP+ with the three lateral screws (
torque 0.4 Nm ±10%.
7.1 Electrical installation
Warning
• Use only power sources which guarantee reliable electrical isolation of the
operating voltage as per IEC/DIN EN 60204-1.
• Also observe the general requirements for PELV power circuits as per
IEC/DIN EN 60204-1.
Caution
Installation errors can damage the electronics or cause faults.
• Switch off the power supply before connecting or disconnecting plug con-
nectors (to prevent functional damage).
• Use an electrical connecting cable with a nominal outside diameter between
4.5 and 10 mm.
• Make sure that the length of the signal line does not exceed the permissible
length of 30 m.
Caution
The C-TOP+ contains electrostatically sensitive components.
Electrostatic discharge as a result of incorrect handling or no earthing can des-
troy the internal electronic components.
• Observe the handling specifications for electrostatically sensitive
devices.
• Ground yourself before fitting or removing components in order to protect the
components against discharges of static electricity.
• Mount the C-TOP+ housing on earthed drives with electrical conduction or on
drives that have an electrically conductive connection with earthed pipe sys-
tems.
The electrical connection is integrated in the device. To carry out the electrical
installation you will have to dismantle the cover (
The operating voltage supply is connected via pins 1 and 2 (
1. Unscrew the three mounting screws on the cover (
2. Carefully lift up the cover.
3. Route the electric cable through the cable connection (outer diameter
4.5 - 10 mm) – tightening torque max. 3 Nm.
4. Use suitable wire end sleeves for flexible cables if required.
5. Wire the socket strips according to the pin allocation – cable cross section:
0.25 ... 0.5 [mm²]; without wire end sleeve up to 0.75 mm².
The pin allocation depends on the type used. The 24 V supply for the sensor S4
(pin 09, 10) and the 24 V supply for the solenoid valve V4 (pin 11, 12) are provided
by the operating voltage supply (pin 1, 2).

For connection of outputs 1 ... 3 (pins 4 ... 6):
• Take into consideration the max. permissible switching load of the sensors
(
Technical data in section 13).
For connection of an external sensor (sensor 4; pins 8 ... 10):
• Use only sensors with a sufficient switching capacity (
tion 13).
7.2 Pneumatic installation
The working lines of the integrated solenoid valves (V1 - V3) are fed out through
the connections A1, A2 and A3.
Ensure that the necessary requirements are met for the pneumatic installation:
– The compressed air supply is switched off.
– The air supply lines are unpressurised.
• Connect the tubing of the C-TOP+ as follows:
1. If necessary, remove the adhesive labels from the compressed air connections.
2. Connect the tubing of the C-TOP+ to the compressed air connections (
7 ).

To connect tubing:
• Push the tubing as far as possible into the tube coupling.
To disconnect tubing:
• Keep the locking ring of the fitting pressed, e.g. by hand or using the releasing
tool QSO from Festo, and pull out the tubing.
• Seal any fittings that are not needed with blanking plugs.

Commissioning
Warning
Risk of pinching inside the sensor bracket (
sor bracket can lead to an impact between the fingers and the drive rod and
cause injuries.
• Do not reach inside the sensor bracket.
Setting the sensor position
During commissioning, define the valve position that has to be detected by moving
the sensors in the sensor bracket of the C-TOP+ to the required position.
You can generate the switching signals for the solenoid valves with the aid of a
master controller, or you can force the switching of the solenoid valves locally
using the manual override (MO).
There is a non-detenting MO on the upper side of the integrated solenoid valves
Fig. 9 4 ). It should only be activated using a blunt pin (max. 15N).
