MAINTAINING YOUR McLAREN
BATTERY CARE AND MAINTENANCE
is opened when the charge port is
unprotected, water, oil or other foreign
materials may enter the charge port.
WARNING: Do not place the charge
cables over the rear wing. The rear wing
may be activated and move up and or
down and cause damage to the high
voltage cables.
WARNING: Do not charge when a vehicle
body cover is in use. This may cause
damage to the charge connector.
WARNING: Do not attempt to perform a
jump start on the 12V battery during
charging. Doing so might trigger a
vehicle fault. For more details, see "How
to Charge 12V or HV Battery from a
Discharged State".
WARNING: Charging is performed using
the cables provided with the vehicle. Do
not use mains plug adaptors or
extension cables for charging.
WARNING: Ensure that the household's
electrical wiring is specified to your
markets current and voltage
specifications.
WARNING: Protective cap can be hot
after vehicle has been used. In case of
hot protective cap allow some time for
the cap to cool down, or use a glove to
remove the protective cap from the
charge port.
WARNING: Charger is heavy – be careful
when handling the unit.
TM
NOTE: McLaren P1
charger charges
the HV battery and trickle charges the
12V battery.
The charger can recover a vehicle with a
fully discharged 12V battery – but it will
take a long time as it is designed to only
trickle charge 12V. See Charging the
High Voltage Battery, page 5.22.
NOTE: Normal charging takes up to 2
1
hours
assuming normal charging cycle.
240V AC Supply – 2 hours.
1
Normal charge cycle is whereby 12V
battery is at healthy state of charge, and
HV battery is at lowest usable state of
charge, temperature of 25°C (77°F).
NOTE: When the ambient temperature is
less than 0°C (32°F) or more than 45°C
(113°F), charging time may be longer
than normal and the level to which the
HV battery can be charged may be lower
than at room temperature.
TM
NOTE: The McLaren P1
can be
charged from charging stations or mains
sockets with the correct charger cable in
all vehicle sales markets.
For more information on charging
station compatibility please contact your
McLaren Retailer.
NOTE: Regular charging helps
maximising battery useful life.
NOTE: In order for the charging to
commence the following criteria needs
to be satisfied:
Charger connected to the mains,
powered up, and turned on.
Charger connector fully inserted into the
vehicle charge port.
Vehicle switched off and parking brake
applied (and stationary).
