When the batteries get low, the following warnings are issued:
Weak battery.
Lowering and shortly
up possible
Figure 6.2 Warnings
It is recommended that the batteries should be recharged when the capacity has
dropped to half (just three markers remaining). Under normal conditions, the
batteries need to be recharged after 26 cycles (ST 1060) or 22 cycles (ST 1073)
under full load.
Recharging an empty battery takes about 9 hours.
Each column has its own battery charger. This can be connected up to the mains
with a standard cable and an IEC plug (a "computer" cable, 115V/60Hz/6Amps).
The charger works independently of the operating system. This means that the main
switch can be at 0 (OFF) while the charger is connected to the mains.
A gauge glass is situated at the right hand side of the box. Red signs that the
batteries are being charged. Green signs that the batteries are charged sufficiently
to work properly.
If the green sign is blinking while the charger is connected, this means that the
charger is charging by small portions. This is a normal situation and is to prevent
self-discharge of the battery.
