DIAGNOSTICS FOR ENGINE STARTING FAILURE
ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS)
Step
10 CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN ECM AND IG-
NITION COIL & IGNITOR ASSY CONNEC-
TOR.
Measure the resistance of harness between
ECM and ignition coil & ignitor ASSY connec-
tor.
Connector & terminal:
(B134) No. 27 — (E12) No. 3:
11 CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN ECM AND IG-
NITION COIL & IGNITOR ASSY CONNEC-
TOR.
Measure the resistance of harness between
ECM and chassis ground.
Connector & terminal:
(B134) No. 26 — Chassis ground:
12 CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN ECM AND IG-
NITION COIL & IGNITOR ASSY CONNEC-
TOR.
Measure the resistance of harness between
ECM and chassis ground.
Connector & terminal
(B134) No. 25 — Chassis ground:
13 CHECK POOR CONTACT.
Check poor contact in ECM connector.
Check
Is the resistance less than 1
Ω?
Is the resistance more than 1
MΩ?
Is the resistance more than 1
MΩ?
Is there poor contact in ECM
connector?

Yes
Go to step 11. Repair the har-
ness and connec-
tor.
NOTE:
In this case, repair
the following:
• Open circuit in
harness between
ECM and ignition
coil & ignitor ASSY
connector
• Poor contact in
a coupling connec-
tor (B22)
Go to step 12. Repair the ground
short circuit in har-
ness between
ECM and ignition
coil & ignitor ASSY
connector.
Go to step 13. Repair the ground
short circuit in har-
ness between
ECM and ignition
coil & ignitor ASSY
connector.
Repair the poor Check the spark
contact in ECM plug and spark
connector. plug cord. <Ref. to

INSPECTION,
