Master-Slave Mode

Master-slave mode is a network configuration that allows a 3-Series processor to
access ports on other Crestron control systems over Ethernet. By attaching a
slave control system to a master control system, the master control system can
use ports that it may not normally have (I/O, IR, RF, and so forth).
In a master-slave environment, the master control system contains the program
that controls all Cresnet and Ethernet devices attached to it. The slaved control
system turns off its processing capabilities and behaves like any other Cresnet or
Ethernet device. The slaved control system obeys the program running on the
master control system, making its ports available to the master for control. Only
one master program needs to be written to control multiple slave systems.
NOTE:
systems while running its own program, use the "Intersystem Communications"
symbol for peer-to-peer communications between control systems over Ethernet.

Definitions

Depending on the control system's communications capabilities, a control system
may function as a Cresnet master, an Ethernet master, or an Ethernet slave.
NOTE:
Cresnet Master
When the control system is in Cresnet master mode (the default mode for
3-Series control systems), it can control Cresnet and Ethernet devices as well as
2-Series control systems operating in the Cresnet slave mode.
Control systems can function as a Cresnet master and an Ethernet master
simultaneously.
Ethernet Master
When the control system is in Ethernet master mode, it can control Ethernet and
Cresnet devices as well as 2-Series and 3-Series control systems operating in the
Ethernet slave mode.
Control systems can function as a Ethernet master and an Crenset master
simultaneously.
Ethernet Slave
When the control system is in Ethernet slave mode, it operates as an Ethernet
device and makes its ports (except for the LAN port) available to a master
control system. Any program loaded into the control system does not run when it
is in Ethernet slave mode.
