10.3.10 Using the SBM EMERGENCY UPM OFF Pushbutton

An SBM Emergency UPM Off is initiated by the covered, red EMERGENCY UPM
OFF pushbutton on the SBM Control/Monitor Panel. This pushbutton is protected
by a clear plastic shield to prevent accidental activation. In an emergency, you can
press this pushbutton to instantaneously control the UPM and SBM output. The
SBM EMERGENCY UPM OFF pushbutton functions differently, depending on the
Emergency Power Off (EPO) option specified when ordered. The options available
are as follows:
S
The critical load is transferred to bypass and UPMs powered down.
UPM breakers CB1, CB2 (MBB) and CB3 open.
S
Power to the critical load is de-energized and UPMs powered down.
UPM breakers remain CB1, CB2 (MBB) and CB3 open.
S
The critical load is transferred to bypass and UPMs powered down.
UPM CB1 breakers trip and the UPM is cut off from utility power.
This function requires additional EPO kit available from Powerware.
S
Power to the critical load is de-energized and UPMs powered down.
UPM CB1 breakers trip and the UPM is cut off from utility power.
This function requires additional EPO kit available from Powerware.
The SBM (including Bypass) remains locked off until you reset the EMERGENCY UPM
OFF pushbutton.
To restart the UPS after pressing the EMERGENCY UPM OFF pushbutton, follow
the procedure Resetting the Parallel Capacity/Redundant System after Emergency
UPM Off", of this chapter, before starting the system.
NOTE: The Remote SBM Emergency Power Off (REPO) option functions differently
than the SBM EMERGENCY UPM OFF pushbutton on the SBM control
panel. If activated, the REPO option will deenergize the critical load, power
down the UPMs and open UPM breakers CB1, CB2 (MBB), and CB3. The
Remote SBM Emergency Power OFF (REPO) option is not configurable to
transfer the critical load to bypass power, if activated.
