Setting up the configuration environment
A.4 Preparing for access via SSH
To be able to access the Switch via SSH, you will need:

A key.
D
Install the key on the Switch.
D
Enable access via SSH on the Switch.
D
A program for executing the SSH protocol on your computer.
A.4.1 Creating a key
The program PuTTYgen allows you to generate a key. This program is
located on the product CD.
V Start the program by double-clicking.
V In the main window of the program within the "Parameter" frame, select
the type "SSH-1 (RSA)".
V In the "Actions" frame click "Generate". Move your mouse so that PuTTY
can generate the key using random numbers.
V Under "Key passphrase" and "Confirm passphrase" do not enter a
password for this key.
V In the "Actions" frame click "Save private key".
Enter the filename and the storage location of the key file.
V Answer the question about not wanting to use a "passphrase" with "Yes".
V Note the fingerprint of the key so that you can check it when setting up the
connection.
