Engine Cleaning
C orrosion protection, such as MB
Anticorrosion W ax should be ap­
plied to the engine com partm ent
after every engine cleaning. Be­
fore applying, all control linkage
bushings and join ts should be
lubricated. The poly-V -belt and all
pulleys should be protected from
any wax.
Car W ashing
Before w ashing your vehicle,
rem ove insect residues. MB Insect
Rem over is recom m ended. Do not
use hot w ater or wash your car in
direct sunlight. Use only a m ild car
wash detergent, such as MB
Autosham poo.
T horoughly spray the car w ith a
diffused je t of water. D irect only a
very weak spray tow ards the
ventilation intake. Use plenty of
w ater and rinse the sponge and
cham ois frequently.
Rinse with clear w ater and
thoroughly w ipe dry with a
cham ois. Do not allow cleaning
agents to dry on the finish.
Before running the vehicle through
an autom atic car wash, fold back
the outside m irrors to prevent
them from getting dam aged.
If the vehicle has been run
through an a utom atic ca r wash -
in particular one of the older
installations - rew ipe the reces­
sed sections in the taillam ps
(designed to prevent soiling) if
necessary. No solvents (fuels,
thinners etc.) m ust be used.
In the w inter, th orou g hly rem ove
all traces of road salt as soon as
possible.
W hen w ashing the underbody, do
not forget to clean the inner sides
of the w heels.
Tar Stains
Q uickly rem ove tar stains before
they dry and becom e m ore d iffi­
cult to rem ove. M B Tar R em over
is recom m ended.
W indow C leaning
Use a w indow cleaning solution on
very dirty or oil-stained w indow s.
W iper Blades
Clean the w iper blade rubber with
a clean cloth and detergent
solution. R eplace blades tw ice a
year; once before and once after
w inter.
H eadlam p C leaning System
The condition of the w iper blades
is im portant for satisfactory clea n ­
ing of the headlam p lenses. We
therefore recom m end that the
blades be inspected regularly.
R eplace dam aged w iper blades.
Plastic Parts, H eadliner
and R ubber Parts
Do not use oil or wax on these
parts.
S eat Belts
The w ebbing m ust not be treated
w ith chem ical cleaning agents.
Use only clear, lukew arm water
and soap. Do not dry the w ebbing
at tem peratures above 1 76 °F
(80 °C ) or in d irect sunlight.
W arning!
Do not bleach or dye seat
belts as this may severely
w eaken them . In a crash they
may not be able to provide
adequate protection.
