C hecking Engine Oil Level

1 Oil d ipstick
2 Oil filler cap
To check the engine oil level,
park vehicle on level ground,
with engine at norm al
operational tem perature.

400 SEL, 500 SEL
C heck engine oil level
approxim ately 5 m inutes after
stopping the engine, allow ing for
the oil to return to the oil pan.
W ipe oil d ip stick clean prior to
checking the engine oil level.
Oil level m ust be between
the lower (min) and
upper (max) m ark of the
dipstick.
Do not overfill the engine.
E xcessive oil m ust be drained or
siphoned.
