MultiCal
Group term for the various WTW pH calibration procedures
used for automatic calibration in buffer solutions.
Redox voltage
Potentiometric quantity.
Reference
In order to compare values measured at different tempera-
temperature
tures, the values have to be converted to a fixed tempera-
ture. This temperature is 25 °C, or, as an exception, 20 °C.
Resistance
All substances (solids, liquids, or gases) with mobile charge
carriers like for example electrons or ions have a finite ohmic
resistance, which means they have an electric conductance
that can be measured or an electric conducitivtiy.
Resolution
Number of decimal places that appear for a measured val-
ue.
Salinity
The salinity is a sum parameter especially for seawater;
it gives the salt content of a solution (without dimension) in
‰
.
Slope
Specifies the voltage change per pH unit.
Temperature
The temperature has a very strong impact on the electrical
compensation (TC)
conductivity. To be able to compare measured values, it is
necessary to temper or convert the test sample to a refe-
rence temperature.
Test sample
The substance to be measured. It can be liquid or solid.
Test solution
Stable solution with a precisely known Redox voltage.
