Linux
To verify that the Ethernet interface is up and running, run 'ifconfig' to
check the status of the Ethernet interface. In addition, you can use the
'netstat -i' command to check the statistics on the Ethernet interface.
Consult the manual pages for more information about the 'ifconfig' and
'netstat' commands.
To ping an IP host on the network to verify connection has been
established, perform the following procedure.
1. From the command line, type ping <IP address>.
2. Press Enter.
The command displays the packet send/receive status.
