Substitute Reception

If any of the conditions listed below are met, the machine automatically switches
to Memory Reception mode and stores messages in memory instead of printing
them. This reception mode, in which a received fax message is stored in memory
and not printed, is called Substitute Reception. Messages received using Substi-
tute Reception are automatically printed when the problem which caused the
machine to use Substitute Reception is rectified.
The table below lists some problems that could have caused Substitute Recep-
tion to take place and their solutions.
Why Substitute Reception
Occurred
Paper has run out.
Toner has run out.
Paper is jammed.
Cover is open.
The machine is in Energy Sav-
er Mode.
Machine is busy printing with
another function.
Note

Solution
Add paper. See p.103 "Load-

Replace the toner cartridge.

Remove the jammed paper.
See p.110 "Clearing Paper
Jams", <Basic Features>.
A cover other than the Auto
Document Feeder (ADF) or
front cover is open. See p.18
"Guide to Components", <Ba-
sic Features>.
Press the { { { { Clear Modes/Energy
Saver} } } } key.
The message will be printed
after the current job finishes
automatically.
