5.7 CONFIGURATION OF THE PEDALS AND THE MIDI PEDALBOARD
(PEDALS FUNCTION)
In the PEDALS screen several functions are collected for the configuration of the pedals and MIDI
pedalboard eventually connected.
You can select the operation of the pedal connected to the [CRESC.] connector on the rear panel,
calibrate this pedal and the one connected to the [EXPR.] connector, if the operating range is not
complete.
Cantorum Duo allows you to control the Crescendo also by receiving the MIDI message Control Change
n.11 (Expression), transmitted by an external unit, such as an expression pedal of a MIDI pedalboard. On
this screen, you can inform the system on which MIDI channel the CC11 is received.
For a correct operation, it is also necessary to inform the Cantorum Duo about the presence of a MIDI
pedalboard connected to the [MIDI IN] port. In this condition the notes received on the MIDI channel
assigned to the Pedal section are transposed according to the setting of the TRANSPOSE parameter of
the main screen, they are not played if the Automatic Pedal is active, the velocity is recalculated according
to the setting selected in the VELOCITY SENS function (see par. 5.5), and are retransmitted on the
[MIDI OUT] port if you want send to an external MIDI device.
To display the screen containing the configuration functions, select the PEDALS item in the SETTINGS
menu:
These parameters allow:
o CRESC/EXPR: selecting the CRESC. item, the pedal connected to the [CRESC.] connector selects
the steps of the Crescendo. Selecting the M.I/PED item the pedal controls the volume of the Manual
I and Pedal sections. In this case, in the main screen, the M.I/PED box is displayed instead of the
CRESCENDO box. This box displays the current level of expression of the two sections.

received.
o MIDI PEDALBOARD: select YES in case of MIDI pedalboard connected to the [MIDI IN] port.
Otherwise select NO.
o PED.CALIBR.: place the cursor on this field and press [ENTER] to access the pedal calibration
screen:
Set the pedal to the minimum position (pedal fully raised) or maximum (pedal completely lowered) and
press [ENTER]: the acquired value is stored in the corresponding MIN or MAX box. Perform the
same procedure for the still unregistered position and any other connected pedal.
