(6) Put the rubber guide rod through the hole on the structure where you will install the nutplate.
(7) Pull the rubber guide rod through the hole to make a good bond between the nutplate base and the structure. As you
pull the rubber guide rod, twist it and the nutplate to make the nutplate seat correctly in the adhesive footprint.
(8) Do not remove the rubber guide rod at this time.
NOTE:
(9) Remove unwanted adhesive with a cloth moistened with Methyl n-Propyl Ketone (MPK). Do not remove the
continuous bead around the periphery of the joint between the nutplate and the structure. Refer to Protective
Treatment of Metal.
(10) Let the adhesive cure at room temperature for no less than four hours.
(11) Remove the rubber guide rod from the nutplate.
(12) Do an inspection of the nutplate to make sure there is a good bond and that you can see a continuous bead of
adhesive around the periphery of the joint between the nutplate and the structure.
(13) When you install the screw in the nutplate, make sure that the screw installs tightly in position.

The rubber guide rod helps give the installation the correct alignment and bond line thickness
while the adhesive cures.
