General Requirements
(1) No chemical cleaning processing must be done on assemblies containing nonremovable dissimilar metals because
of danger of entrapment of solutions.
(2) Handle parts so that solutions and rinse water contact all repaired surfaces with minimum contact to other parts or
holder.
(3) Surfaces must be water-break-free following rinsing after cleaning and deoxidizing. A water-break-free surface is one
which, when wetted with cold water, will maintain a continuous film of water for a minimum of 30 seconds.
(4) Unless otherwise specified, parts must be processed from one step to the next without delay and without allowing the
parts to dry.
(5) If existing organic coatings are not to be completely removed, sand to feather the edge of the existing coating before
pretreatment.
C. Pollution Control
(1) Chemical film and conversion coating solutions contain hexavalent chromium. The solution, rinse water, and cloth or
