INSTALLATION NOTES

Main features

- The cable runs of intercom and video intercom installations must be
kept separate from the mains or any other electrical installation as
required by the International Safety Standards and the entire
installation must be realized in compliance with the safety rules in force
in any specific Country.
- The DUO videointercom system needs a correct power supply and
audio, video and data impedance over the riser line. It is recom-
mended to comply with the instructions provided in this chapter to get
the best audio-video performance possible. The noncompliance with
these rules could result in the following drawbacks typical of 2 wire
video intercom systems:
- data transmission errors with possible inability to make calls and
service activation;
- disturbed or poor quality video images;
- disturbed audio.
Power supplies
- It is necessary to provide a disconnecting and safety switch before the
power supply. Use a single general switch in case of several power
supplies (also in multiple entrance).
- Before connecting the power supplies make sure that the rating
complies with the electrical mains.
- The 2220S power supply provides power to an door station (PE),
electric door lock (SE) and name plate lighting. If the system has
several external stations, use a power supply for each door station.

2220S
- The 2221ML (or 2221S) line power supply provides the power to
apparatus connected to the DUO line (intercoms, video intercoms,
floor or riser distributors, exchangers, actuators for services, door-
keeper exchanger, etc.). Several power supplies can be used, if
connected correctly, in the following cases:
- excessive load (the sum of the apparatus equivalent loads (C
connected to the DUO line is greater that available from the power
supply;
- installation on several independent risers (add a power supply for
each riser).
Impedance
When designing a 2-wire DUO digital system, in addition to the absorp-
tion of the apparatus, it is also necessary to calculate the impedance of
the DUO line determined by the number of devices connected. The
equivalent total system impedance is calculated by summing the imped-
ances Z
(see table 5.1) of each device.
E
The presence of the line separators items 2230, 2231 and 2273 allows
several separate DUO lines. In this case, to calculate the impedance of
each line, it is necessary to sum the impedances of the devices on the
common part of the line with that on each single riser (see the examples
on pages 5.4 and 5.5). On each DUO line the maximum total equivalent
impedance allowed is 700 Z
.

Attention! These items divide the system into two separate DUO
lines, before proceeding with the calculation, read the section
"Impedance" in the next column. See the calculation examples on
pages 5.4 and 5.5.
