2.1.2 - Falling Hazards

To enter or exit from the platform :
• The machine must be completely stowed.
• Face the machine to access the entry opening to the platform.
• Keep 3 points of contact (both hands and a foot) on the steps and
the guardrail.
Before commencing operation :
• Ensure that guard rails are correctly installed and secured.
• Ensure that gate or sliding bar is in it's proper closed position.
• Remove oil or grease from the steps, floor, handrail and the
guardrails.
• Clear the platform floor free of debris.
When in the platform :
• Occupants must wear a fall restraint harness with lanyard and
energy absorber, in accordance with applicable governmental
regulations. Attach the lanyard to the designated fall restraint
anchor provided in the platform.
• The correct use of the harness requires the lanyard to be
connected to an anchorage point designated by the decals. Refer
to this decal located on the platform.
• Hold on securely to the guardrails.
• Always keep your feet firmly on the floor of the platform.
• Do not sit, stand, or climb on the platform guard rails.
• Work only within the platform guardrails area and do not lean over
guardrails to perform work.
• Do not exit the platform until it is in the completely stowed position.
• Do not use the guardrail as a means of access to climb in or out
of the platform.
