If You Cannot Make Copies As You Want

Problem
Misfeeds occur frequently.
Images are cropped when us-
ing the Border Erase function.
Parts of the image are not cop-
ied.
Copies are blank.
The copy paper shifts side-
ways.
The copy has shifted in the di-
rection of the original feed (or
opposite) direction.
The copy is shorter than the
selected size. Or the copy is
cut off before the end.
Cause
There are folds or wrinkles in
the paper.
Jammed paper or torn paper is
inside the machine.
The paper is curled.
The Border Erase setting is to
too big.
The margin of the original is
small.
The original is not placed cor-
rectly.
An improper paper roll is se-
lected.
Shift/Erase or Margin Adjust-
ment mode is selected.
The original is not set correct-
ly.
The paper roll is not set cor-
rectly.
The original does not match
size in the original table set-
ting.
The paper is not set correctly
in the bypass tray.
Shift/Erase or Margin Adjust-
ment mode is selected.
If You Cannot Make Copies As You Want
Action
Remove the folds or wrinkles
from the roll paper.
Remove the paper, as appro-
priate. See P.117 " x Clearing
Misfeeds"
Smooth out the curl and try
again.
Reduce the size of the Border
Erase setting. See P.72 "Border
Erase"
Placing original correctly. See
P.31 "Setting Originals"
Select the proper paper roll.

Cancel Shift/Erase or Margin
Adjustment mode. See P.68

Set the paper roll correctly,
making sure that it is straight
