Using the MX-80 With the Model II TRS-80
EPSON does not supply a special cable for use with the Model II TRS-80. A
standard Radio Shack Catalog number 26-4402 cable may be obtained thru any
Radio Shack store. One end connects to the MX-80. The other end plugs into the
PARALLEL PRINTER CHANNEL on the back of the TRS-80. Do NOT connect
the computer end until directed to do so by the Manual.
The Model II is in many ways similar to the Model I. Its Disk BASIC interpreter
uses LPRINT in the same way as the Model I, and the control functions respond
generally the same, except as follows:
INITIALIZATION
The Model II must be initialized with its own FORMS command in order to
properly feed a printer. Initialization can be performed either at the DOS or
BASIC levels.
1. From DOS: Type:
FORMS
The computer will respond with:
P R I N T E R READY ( Y / N )
Assuming the Printer is properly connected and turned ON, type:
Y < e n > and
Q < e n >
Initialization is complete and we are returned back to DOS.
2. From BASIC, type:
SYSTEM "FORMS" < e n >
After finishing the questions and typing:
Q < e n >
we are automatically returned to BASIC.
