The Starting Line
This important Chapter shows how to unpack the Printer, set it up and test it.
Read it before you get into trouble. The time spent will be your best investment
since buying the Printer itself.
Counting the Parts
Open the box carefully and remove the contents. There should be:
1. This User's Manual (obviously . . .)
2. The EPSON MX-80 Printer
3. A long box containing the ribbon cartridge
4. A wire rack to guide the paper
You also need an EPSON cable to connect the Printer to your particular com-
puter. Computers which do not use the Centronics Standard Parallel Interface
scheme need the proper EPSON matching kit. Your EPSON dealer can supply
whatever is needed.
Setting It Up
Lift the printer lid and locate the 2 shipping screws. See Figure 1.

These screws are to protect the MX-80 from damage during shipping. Let's
remove the printer lid so we can get at the screws without breaking something.
