Chapter 9
The Big Hammer
We of simpler mind, however, better practice more everday things, such as the
following "notice". It can be easily added to any outstanding bill. What it lacks in
subtlety is compensated for in forthrightness.

Figure 7-2
Pretty hard to miss that one! Line 30 turns on double width and delivers the
message. Line 40 underlines PAYMENT with the graphics character ASCII 172. If
we spend a little time to really understand how very simple programs like this are
created, we really don't need much talent to create similar ones to match our indi-
vidual graphics printing needs.
Genius At Work
We will spend the remainder of this Chapter studying how to apply a very simple
"universal style" program to create a rather stunning company symbol or "Logo".
This same programming style can be used with an endless variety of other ideas,
and is well worth our very careful study.
Examine Figure 7-3 very carefully. It is the end product we are going to create.
We will develop it, a line at a time, dissecting it in minute detail. When we're
done, you should be able to print your company logo, family coat of arms,
fraternal symbol, or whatever suits your fancy.
