Switch #
Normal Position
Function
1-8
ON
Allows ASCII 17 to "select" and
ASCII 19 to "deselect" the printer. That means, if this switch is OFF, we can
remotely control whether the printer is allowed to print what is sent from the
computer. When the switch is ON, printer is permanently in the "selected" mode
and no external command can "deselect" it.
This option is not available if a Radio Shack cable is used.
1-7
O F F
Selects between TRS-80 graphics
characters and Japanese Katakana characters. O F F is TRS-80 and ON is Katakana.
Both these character sets begin at ASCII 160. In the event that Switch #2-4 is
O F F , both graphics sets are shifted down to begin at ASCII 128.
1-6
ON
Allows internal buzzer to sound for
about 3 seconds if an "error" occurs. An example would be when the Printer runs
out of paper. If the switch is O F F , errors cannot activate the buzzer.
This switch has no effect on allowing the computer to activate the buzzer by
sending an ASCII 7; the buzzer will still sound.
1-5
ON
Delete
Code
Switch.
When
the
switch is ON, features below are overridden.
When the switch is OFF, certain data waiting in the print b u f f e r can be deleted. It
allows the operator to change his mind at the last minute.
String data, and Condensed and Double Width control codes can be deleted.
Escapes A-H and 0-2 cannot be deleted. See switch 1-4, below.
1-4
O F F
Cancel
Code
Switch.
Similar
to
switch 1-5 above. Both switches are needed since some computers can send only
delete OR cancel, but not both codes. Having 2 switches provides for both
contingencies. Activated when switch is O F F .
