Inspect and verify that the base of the valve is in contact with the suction
cylinder. If a gap still exists between the valve and the suction cylinder, the
valve is not properly attached and patient debris or fluid may leak or spray
from the gap (see Figure 3.11).

No gap
Sometimes the suction valve will click before it is fully seated
in the suction cylinder. Press the suction valve down firmly to
ensure that it is fully seated in the suction cylinder and
visually inspect the connection to ensure that no gap exists.
