Terminology

Caution icon indicates important information or warning related to the concept
discussed in the text. It might indicate the presence of a hazard which could
result in corruption of software or damage to equipment/property.

definitions as they that apply to the 800xA system where the usage is different from
commonly accepted industry standard definitions and definitions given in standard
dictionaries such as Webster's Dictionary of Computer Terms.

Description
Consists of single or redundant FCIs plus I/O modules
connected directly to the FCI.
The Fieldbus Communication Interface (FCI) device
contains the interface to the fieldbus PROFIBUS-
DP/DPV1, ModuleBus interface and power regulators.
The FCI module can manage 24 I/O devices (up to 12
directly and to the others in 1 to 7 I/O clusters).
