2.7.177 PWR-FAIL-A
The Equipment Power Failure at Connector A alarm occurs when there is no power supply from the main
power connector to the equipment. This alarm occurs on the electrical line card or the controller card.
Before working on equipment that is connected to power lines, remove jewelry (including rings,

necklaces, and watches). Metal objects will heat up when connected to power and ground and can
cause serious burns or weld the metal object to the terminals. Statement 43
Clear the PWR-FAIL-A Alarm
If a single port has reported the alarm, take the following actions depending on the reporting entity:

If the reporting port is an active traffic line port in a 1+1/LMSP protection group or part of a SNCP,
ensure that an APS traffic switch has occurred to move traffic to the protect port.
Removing a card that currently carries traffic on one or more ports can cause a traffic hit. To

avoid this, perform an external switch if a switch has not already occurred. See the
"2.9.1 Protection Switching, Lock Initiation, and Clearing" section on page 2-146
