6.3.3 Side panels

CAUTION
Pinching at the side panels
Risk of pinching and crushing of the hands
► Pay attention not to pinch parts of your body between the side or frame parts.
The side panels protect the user and his/her clothing from getting dirty.
If armrests have been installed on the wheelchair, they offer the user additional support for the forearms.

6.3.3.1 Adjusting the side panels

"Standard" side panel and "Clothing protector" side panel
The "Standard" side panel (see Fig. 22) and the "Clothing protector" side panel (not illustrated) cannot be adjus­
ted in height.

6.3.3.2 Removing the Side Panels

To make getting into the wheelchair easier and for transportation, the side panels can be removed.
1) Pull the side panels out of the guides on the side panel mountings (see Fig. 23).
2) After getting in, slide the side panels back into the side panel mountings (see Fig. 5, item 1). In doing so,
ensure that the mounting plate is up against the side panel from the outside (see Fig. 5, item 2).

6.3.4 Rear wheels

CAUTION
Heat development when braking with push rings
Risk of burns to the hands
► Wear leather gloves when travelling at high speeds.
CAUTION
Pinching in exposed drive parts
Risk of pinching and crushing of the hands
► To avoid hand injuries, do not grasp between the rear wheel and the knee lever lock when driving your wheel­
chair.
► Do not reach between the spokes of the rear wheel.
The wheelchair is moved, steered, braked and stopped with the help of the push rings on the rear wheels.
To make transport easier, rear wheels with quick-release axle can be taken off the wheelchair.
Rear wheels with clamp axle are permanently installed on the wheelchair.

6.3.4.1 Removing/mounting the rear wheels with quick-release axle

1) Grip the area between the spokes near the hub with your fingers.
2) Use your thumb to press the pushbutton on the quick-release axle.
3) Pull off / push on the rear wheel. The quick-release axles must not be able to be removed after the pushbutton
has been released.
