11.2 Cleaning and Disinfecting Remainder of the SCBA

If the SCBA is soiled (i.e. heavy smoke residue or dirt accumulation) use a sponge damp with mild
soap solution or use a soft/medium bristle brush to remove deposits, in a well ventilated area, from
the following components:
• Harness (straps and buckles)
• Carrier (band and latch assembly)
• Cylinder (handwheel, gauge, outlet connection)
• Pressure reducer (bell and coupling nut connection)
• Control module/power module/battery module/speaker module
(1) Inspect the entire SCBA as it is reassembled. Follow the Inspection Instructions.
