    Maintenance and Care WARNING! DO NOT attempt to maintain or repair the G1 SCBA while pressurized. Attempting to disassemble a pres- surized SCBA can cause parts to become airborne or swing at very high rates of speed. Failure to follow this warning can result in serious personal injury or death.

    Maintenance and Care Installing the Regulator Cover WARNING! Visually inspect the U-clip to ensure that it is in place and has not become dislodged or fallen out of the regulator housing before attaching the regulator cover. Ensure proper engagement of both retaining tabs by visual inspection to ensure that the regulator cover is securely attached to the regulator housing.
  • Page 9 Maintenance and Care Push the regulator cover, spring, and spring retainer onto the regulator housing until the retaining tabs snap into place. Visually inspect the tabs. Make sure both are properly engaged.

    Maintenance and Care Removing the Regulator Hose Assembly Remove the regulator cover. (See Removing the Regulator Cover for instructions.) NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the diaphragm. Use a 2mm punch to push the U-clip post through the regulator housing and remove the U-clip. NOTE: Use extreme caution to not damage the diaphragm.

    Maintenance and Care Installing the Regulator Hose Assembly Wrap protective tape or a thin piece of paper around the bypass threads. Apply a thin film of Christo-Lube lubricant to one (1) new size 013 orange O-ring and two (2) new 8mm green O- rings.

    Maintenance and Care Removing the Regulator Spring and Spring Retainer Remove the regulator cover. Slide the spring retainer to unlock from its seat on the regulator cover. Turn the spring counterclockwise to remove it from the retainer. NOTE: Do not stretch the spring. Installing the Regulator Spring and Spring Retainer NOTE: Procedure applies to the purge and non-purge regulator cover.

    Maintenance and Care Slide the spring retainer into its seat to lock on the regu- lator cover. Install the regulator cover. (See Installing the Regulator Cover for instructions.) Removing the Diaphragm Remove the regulator cover and spring. Remove CBRN shield. a) Lift the CBRN shield assembly and spring cap off the diaphragm assembly.

    Installing the Regulator Cover for instructions.) Disassembling the Bypass and Hose with Swivel Remove the regulator. (See Removing the G1 Regulator for instructions.) Remove the bypass knob. Use a T40 Torx driver to loosen and remove the center nut. NOTE: Hold the bypass knob firmly while loosening the nut.

    Maintenance and Care Push the bypass stem through the swivel to remove. NOTE: Any time the bypass assembly is removed from the regulator housing, replace the O-rings on the bypass stem and electronic connector. NOTE: The electronic connector cannot be removed from the assembly.

    Maintenance and Care Install two (2) new 8 mm O-rings to the electrical plug. Install the regulator. (See Installing the G1 Regulator Hose Assembly for instructions.) 2.11 Removing the Valve Assembly Remove the regulator (See Removing the G1 Regulator for instructions).

    Maintenance and Care 2.12 Installing the Valve Assembly Inspect and adjust valve fork height while looking at the side of the valve housing. The valve fork assembly must move up and down freely. Turn the adjustment wheel clockwise to lower the fork.

    Maintenance and Care 2.13 Removing the Regulator Buttons Remove the regulator (See Removing the Regulator for instructions). Remove the valve assembly (See Removing the Valve Assembly for instructions). Remove and discard the retaining size 007 black O-ring to remove the buttons. The spring will push the button from the housing.

    Maintenance and Care 2.14 Installing the Regulator Buttons Install one (1) new sealing size 008 orange O-ring to each button. a) Wrap protective tape or a thin piece of paper around the button posts. b) Apply a thin film of Christo-Lube lubricant to the new orange sealing O-ring.

    Maintenance and Care 2.15 Removing the E-Module Remove the regulator. (See Removing the Regulator Hose for instructions.) Remove the valve assembly. (See Removing the Valve Assembly for instructions.) Remove the regulator buttons. (See Removing the Regulator Buttons for instructions.) Rotate the E-module away from the electrical connector slot and remove from the Regulator Housing.

    Maintenance and Care 2.17 Removing the Regulator Seal Ring Remove the seal ring and discard. Remove the size 24 orange O-ring and discard. 2.18 Installing the Regulator Seal Ring Roll the new seal ring above the regulator outlet and seat it into the groove.
