SERVICE S PARK PLUG
Changingthe spark plug will help your engineto start easier and
run better.
1. Cleanarea around spark plug.
2. Removeand inspect spark plug (Figure33).
3. Check electrode gap with wire feeler gauge and reset
spark plug gap to recommended gap if necessary (see
Specifications).
4. Replacespark plug if electrodesare pitted, burnedor porcelain
is cracked. Use the recommended replacement plug. See
Specifications.
5. Install spark plug and tighten firmly.

iNSPECT M UFFLER A ND SPARK ARRESTER
Inspect the muffler for cracks, corrosion, or other damage.
Removethe spark arrestor,if equipped,and inspect for damageor
carbon blockage.If replacementparts are required,make sure to
use only original equipment replacementparts.
Contactwith muffler area can resultin serious
burns.Exhaust heat/gasescan ignite
combustibles, s tructures or damagefuel tank
causinga fire.
, DONOT touchhotpartsandAVOID hotexhaust g ases.
* Allowequipment to coolbeforetouching.
* Keepat least5 feet (152 cm) of clearance on all sidesof power
washer including overhead.
* It is a violation of California PublicResource Code,Section 4442,
to useor operate theengine on anyforest-covered, brush-covered,
or grass-covered l andunless theexhaust s ystemis equipped with
a sparkarrester, asdefined in Section 4442,maintained in effective
working order. O therstates orfederal j urisdictions mayhavesimilar
laws.
Contact t he originalequipment m anufacturer, retailer, o r dealer to
obtaina sparkarrester designed for the exhaust s ysteminstalled
on this engine.
* Replacement parts must be the sameand installed in the same
position asthe original p arts.
AFTER EACH USE
Water should not remain in the unit for long periods of time.
Sedimentsor mineralscan deposit on pump parts andfreeze pump
action. Followthese proceduresafter every use:
1. Shut off engine, turn off water supply, point gun in a safe
direction, and squeezetriggerto relievetrapped pressure,and
let enginecool.
The highpressurestreamof water that this equipment
producescan cutthroughskin and its underlying
tissues,leadingto seriousinjury and possible
amputation.Spray guntraps high water pressure,even
when engine is stoppedand water is disconnected,
whichcan cause injury.
, Keep high pressure hoseconnected to pumpand spraygunwhile
systemis pressurized.
* ALWAYS point spray gun in safe directionand squeeze spray
guntrigger, t o release highpressure, e verytime you stop engine.
Engage triggerlockwhennotin use.
2. Disconnecthoses from spray gun and high pressureoutlet on
pump. Drainwater from hoses, spray gun, and lance. Use a
rag to wipe off the hose.
3. Empty pump of all pumpedliquids. Checkthat the engine ON/
OFFswitch and fuel valve are in the OFFposition. Thenpull the
recoil handleabout six times. This should remove most liquid
in pump.
4. Store unit in a clean, dry area.
5. If storing for more than 30 days, see the Long Term Storage
section.
