Maintenance Manual of 4M11 Series Diesel Engine For Land Power Generators
Notice: Do not blow through the filter paper
Do not clean the filter paper by water or oil
Do not pat or beat the filter element strongly
Ensure to replace the damaged filter element and seal ring.
2.4 Maintenance for Long-term Storage
2.4.1 Clean
Before sealed storage, disassemble all rusts by an appropriate method and thoroughly
clean the portions treated by protective agent (such as lubricating oil lines, fuel system, and
turbocharger).
2.4.2 Protection
①After the warm-up, fully drain the engine oil, clean the engine oil filter, and add anti-rust oil
into the diesel engine oil tank or oil sump.
②Fully drain the diesel from the fuel system and add anti-rust oil mixture again to protect the
entire fuel line.
③If the diesel engine is not filled with cooling emulsion, after the drainage of coolant, add
cooling emulsion and anti-rust oil for protection of cooling chamber. Before sealed storage,
start the engine with above-mentioned emulsion as per the start procedure and idle for
15~25min.
④Disassemble the end cover plate of the intake pipe and spray anti-rust oil into the intake pipe by
pressure nozzle. During the spraying, rotate the crankshaft by hand to open the valves and
enable the permeation of anti-rust oil into the combustion chamber. Once entire sealed
storage procedure is completed, do not rotate the crankshaft further, in order to prevent
scratching the adhered oil film from the cylinder walls.
⑤Drain all oils and liquids from the diesel engine, drain or pump out the anti-rust oil from the
engine base, drain the emulsion from the cooling system, and leave open all drainage
switches.
⑥Disassemble the rocker cover and spray anti-rust oil to the valve spring and rocker.
