The Desktop Applications include the option to install 3rd-Party services for use by all
Desktop Applications users. These 3rd-Party services are required to support some of
the functionality that was available in the IPK II PC Attendant and PC Assistant.
The 3rd-Party services manage shared resources and provide communication
facilities between user endpoints. 3rd-Party services include the following functions:
The following sections describe Desktop Applications functionality that supports the
3rd-Party services.

NSTALLATION

The 3rd-Party services are installed separately from the Desktop Applications
installation. The 3rd-Party services installation option appears as a selection in the
NEC Installer. The shared services must be installed on a PC that includes the NEC
TSP and that can be accessed by all of the desktop clients.

Desktop Applications
3rd-Party Services
Shared Directory/Contact List – provides a shared database that includes the
company directory and external contact list that can be accessed by all users.
Centralized BLF Monitoring – the 3rd-Party TSP is used to monitor the status
of all stations on the system. Updates are provided by the shared services to the
individual clients.
Common Trunk Labeling – provides a central storage for assigning labels to
trunks.
Quick Messaging – manages delivery of messages and responses from
attendant level users to end users.
Phone Messaging – manages the delivery of messages and responses from
attendant level users to end user desksets, with the addition of allowing users to
customize the set of predefined messages.
