Changing a transmitter address

To activate multidrop communication, the transmitter poll address must be assigned a number from 1
to 15 for HART Revision 5, and 1–63 for HART Revision 7. Each transmitter in a multidropped loop must
have a unique poll address.

From the HOME screen, enter the Fast Key sequence

1. Right click the device and select Configure.
2. In HART Revision 5 mode:
a. Select Manual Setup, select the HART tab.
b. In the Communication Settings box enter polling address in the Polling Address box, select

a. Select Manual Setup, select the HART tab and select the Change Polling Address button.
4. Carefully read the warning and click Yes if it is safe to apply the changes.

To communicate with a multidrop transmitter, the Field Communicator or AMS Device Manager has to
be set up for Polling.

1. Select Utility and Configure HART Application.
2. Select Polling Addresses.
3. Enter 0–63.
Communicating with a multidropped transmitter using AMS Device
Manager
1. Select the HART modem icon and select Scan All Devices.
