No   S moking   o r   O pen   F lames.   F or   s afety   c oncerns,   a ll   p ossible   s ources   o f   i gnition  
must   b e   k ept   a way   f rom   t he   o xygen   s ystem   a nd   p referably   o ut   o f   t he   r oom   i n  
which   i t   i s   b eing   u sed.   S moking   i n   t he   p roximity   o f   a n   o peration   o xygen  
 
concentrator   i s   e xtremely   d angerous   a nd   c an   p ermanently   d amage   t he   d evice  
and   v oid   t he   w arranty.   K eep   t he   P OC   a t   l east   f ive   ( 5   f t)   f eet   ( 1.5   m )   f rom   h eat  
sources,   s parking   o bjects,   o r   o pen   f lames.  
 
Ask   y our   p atient   w here   t hey   w ould   l ike   t o   s et   u p   t he   d evice.   W hile   u npacking   a nd   s etting   u p  
the   d evice,   t ell   y our   p atient   a bout   t hese   i mportant   c autions   a nd   w arnings:  
 
 
 
Locate   t he   u nit   i n   a   w ell-­‐ventilated   s pace   t hat   p rovides   a dequate   a ir   f low.  
 
Ensure   t hat   f urniture,   d raperies,   o r   c lothing   w ill   n ot   i mpede   a ir   c irculation.  
Avoid   p lacing   t he   u nit   o ver   a   f loor   h eat   r egister   o r   a gainst   a   b aseboard   h eating  
system.  
 
Do   n ot   u se   i n   t he   p resence   o f   f lammable   a nesthetics,   s olvents,   a erosols,   o r  
flammable   c leaning   a gents.    
 
Avoid   h igh   p ollutant   e nvironments.  
 
 
Some   p atients   a re   h ighly   m obile   a nd   m ay   u se   t he   d evice   u nder   v arying  
circumstances.   M ake   s ure   y our   p atient   o r   p atient   c aregiver   c ompletely  
 
understands   t he   b asic   p recautions   t o   s afely   l ocate   t he   d evice.
