Common Problems and Solutions

Problem 1:
The AP Controller does not automatically detect a new Access Point.
Solution 1:
Follow these steps if an Access Point is not automatically recognized and configured
by an AP Controller:
1.
Confirm that the Access Point's Link LED is on. This means that the Access
Point has a network connection. If the LED is not on, try another Ethernet cable.
Also, confirm that you have connected the 10Base-T crossover adapter, included
with the unit, to the Access Point's 10Base-T port. If you do not have the
10Base-T crossover adapter, then use a 10Base-T crossover cable to connect the
Access Point to the network.
Note:
If you have connected the Harmony OpenAir Access Point to an AP Power
Over LAN Module, do not use the 10Base-T crossover adapter.
2.
Try recycling power to the unit. The Access Point will try to contact an AP
Controller during boot-up. Therefore, if you are using the external AC power
supply, you should connect the Access Point to the Ethernet network before
turning on the unit.
3.
Confirm that the Harmony System's "Allow new APs to be added automatically"
parameter is set to True. Refer to the Harmony Access Point Controller Model
7560 User's Guide for details.
4.
If none of the above solves the problem, try to manually add the Access Point as
described in the Harmony Access Point Controller Model 7560 User's Guide.
Problem 2:
I can't configure the Access Point locally via the serial port.
